Hello!

I was given the below second hand steering guard by a friend for my defender but can't seem to fit it.

As I can't seem to all I can think is that maybe it is for a disco only? Are there any differences?

Also what are peoples thoughts on these:

LandRover Defender 90/110 Steering Protection Bar/Guard | eBay UK

I'm trying to keep mine as standard looking as poss and I think the bar may be better for this if I am going to have to buy one.

If I am doing anything stupid by not being able to fit the guard please say!

Many thanks

In what sense will it not fit?

Personally i dont like th bar type steering gaurd.

The one you have look like what i have on my defender. How is it not fitting ? wont it go over the chassi rails ? or are the holes not lining up ??

It hits the steering track rod, I can attach the front eyes to the jate ring holes but then I can't swing it back as it hits it and the back holes don't quite make where I think they are supposed to be secured

You have removed the steering box bolt I take it?

This may be where I am going wrong, so if I remove the steering box bolt how will this help? - sorry its also dark so I will have a proper look on the landy when it's light but just so I have an idea of what I'm looking at.

The steering box bolt goes though the steering guard and then back through the steering box in it's original location.

You sure it's 27th? that's a friday.

**** hitting the fan a bit at work but otherwise ok.

Just got back from Cornwall. Took my dad for his annual holiday.:p

Just to check I really am not as stupid as I currently am thinking: In the pic of the steering guard it is the front on the left hand side and the rear on the right?

Brilliant, thank you I will give that a go.

You may need to spend some time with some plus gas, wd40 or similar getting the steering box bolt freed off. It will either come out straight off or will need to be beaten out.;)

Lol, thanks Karlos, I will give it another go and by the sounds of it the guard should fit, I just thought it was easier to fit than it actually was. Still shouldn't be too difficult though :) Back to work tomorrow first thing which is a pain as I would have loved to do it asap
