Hi, So next problem : I have a considerable power steering leak coming from under the battery compartment area. It is leaking considerably since it needs weekly-monthly top ups. What am I looking at, in terms of repairing it?

You need to find where it's leaking exactly. I'm not familiar with your vehicle but it could be just a simple split hose or loose fitting.

There's a pair of steel PAS pipes that run through there to the box, from the other side of the vehicle. Pipe run is under the rad/cooler group, along the top of the chassis crossmember. Mine were very corroded when I changed them a couple of years back.

This seems to be the source of the leak

you can either swap the box or replace the seal

hmm, I see there are many seal kits. Will check how difficult they are to do though while there is the steering box out, are there any other components that would be worth changing? I am thing of the steel pipe that seems to be very prone to corroding from what others are saying...
