Have any of you guys got a knackered upper steering column siting in the garage with a working ecu inside? My ecu is on its last legs. According to the manual the ecu is non serviceable as it is fixed in by non removable pins. However I've had a look at these pins and I'm pretty sure I can spin em out and get at the ecu trapped inside. As the steering column is a common failure due to other problems there must be plenty of these lying around gathering dust . If I can get my hands on one I can have a go before I attack mine whilst its still in the vehicle

us steering columns sell for around £200 due to this problem. working 2nd hand ones for around £595 and uprated 2006+ columns for around £1250 so you would have to consider yourself very lucky to find one that someone is giving away!

Mine is coming up with an intermittent fault causing k bus faults , key not turning , transponder coil not working and causing hevac , and air suspension probs, then it's ok for a few a few weeks but it always returns to haunt me

Could be a faulty ignition switch
