Hello - to you all - have had a couple of Disco's over the years and very happy with current R Reg model. Have just had a new (fairly cheap) stereo/cd player fitted and now the steering column comntrols are not working - any ideas?

Regards,

Tony

Is it an aftermarket headunit or a standard disco replacement.

If its aftermarket, is it compatable with the steering wheel controls?

If its a replacement have the steering controls been re-connected?

You've lost me there!! I had a stereo/radio in that worked fine and with the steering column controls - have now had this new unit, radio/cd player installed and fitted - and the steering column controls don't work...........that's the story so far. I was tols by the chap fitting at Halfords that it did not need any extra cables - obviously it must need something else somewhere along the line?

Is the unit that you replaced it with, the same as the one removed?

Or is it a halfords aftermarket brand such as, Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine etc.
I suspect if it is from halfords it will be an aftermarket brand, and therefore i would also suspect and extra cable would be need to make your steering controls work.

Thanks for that - no - not same as was taken out. The new one is an Halfords aftermarket - its a Sendai CD789. The chap checked before fitting and said that no other cables were required!! Have you any ideas what this extra cable might be?

Tony

Where'd you get that bit from? Have been through the "Will it Fit My Car" part of their website and it says it will fit with "no essential items being required for this item"
