Ok, here's yet another query about the car I'm rapidly falling out with...

There's a kind of heavy sounding clunk/rattle coming from deep within the steering column when I go over bumps (off road). The steering is fine, but the noise is louder and or/more noticeable when I turn on a bumpy surface.

Any ideas?

I have a feeling that this has recently been discussed, but can't find the relevant thread.

Ta in advance...

there was a TSB for this which involves replacing the power steering return hose for a new design,i had mine done and 80% improvement, the noise is more annoying than you can feel it,basically its hydraulic hammer in the system but it sounds like mechanical,is dont do no damage buts its very annoying

Have ya fallen out ya car Shotgun, bet that hurt,or was it broken down again. . . .:D

Nah, not broken down, just annoying the ****e out of me!

Although had some fun in it tonight across the fields, so feeling much better... is a "TSB" like a recall (i.e. free!)??

The clunk is worrying, but glad to know it won't cause further damage.
