Hi.
I have a 1973 88'' that I am currently rebuilding..
The worm in the steering box is worn,
Is the Series 2 & 2a, 109 & 88 the same?
Is it possible to find an X Army canvas hood, short or long wheelbase?
Cheers Tim Gaddum.

Just need to say hello in this section, mate. Maybe a few words about yourself, though not your full name! Then put your question in the series section of the forum. More specialists will see your post there.
Welcome to the forum though, you'll get a lot of help here.

steering boxes are the same for 88 and 109 ,worm shafts do differ between series 3s and the others ,series 3 worms are the only one widely available as series 3 is the only one catered for by parts market, earlier parts are rare and come from specialist old stock suppliers, ive had to join serie 2 top part of shaft to new series 3 worm to rebuild the earlier boxes

Hi, Thanks for that, day before yesterday I happened upon a rolled over Series 3, 88" Hard Top in a locale wreckers yard, took me 4 hours to extract it from the body in the rain in the most disgusting yard with the car crusher gnashing its teeth to get at my prize!!
The worm is in very good condition so a bearing and seal kit will make it A1.
Where wold I go for an X Army canvas top? 88" preferably but a 109 will do , I will cut it down.
