How easy/difficult is this job on a 1990 Disco1 200tdi anybody got any tips?

my tip would be get a good secondhand box as replacing seals is difficult and seldom works

Would agree but my budget is tight and cant find a box for under £150 squids

I am getting to the stage where I will HAVE to do the seals on a PAS box as I have used all my spares and swapped around all possible combinations of boxes and vehicles.....the repair kit is under a tenner so Im going to have to bite that bullet .

I rebuilt mine about 8 years ago with a seal kit, it took me a day and was a bit of a faff but it hasn't leaked since so was worth doing.
I didn't have access to Rave manual then and my Haynes manual just said it can only be done by a dealer so I looked in an old Haynes manual for the Range Rover classic and it told me everything I needed to know!

It's definitely worth a go if you feel inclined.

have been losing fluid on my steering also (98 disco 1 300tdi)
last bottle of fluid i bought has a 'leak fixing' agent in it, apparently

put half the bottle in - 150ml - checked it a couple of times - think it's less than normal - try again in morn
