Hi again. My defender 200tdi needs mot soon and now my steering box and power steering box are leaking like no tomorrow. So I was wondering if there is a steering boxes out of a different land rover that would fit at all, ie a discovery or something. Any Advice or experiences with this would be much appreciated.

disco one fits and don't swop drop arms use the disco one, fit the disco steering rod as it has two track rod ends instead of the hopeless ball joint you get on a fender

cheers steve

I've just swapped my 110's Steering bar, for a HD Sumo Bar with greasable trackrod ends. It did have the Fender swan neck bar end on it But had it changed for a disco one. 20tonnes press failed to shift it. & it had to be cut off.

disco is better idea but you need to fit a bracket to secure damper or fit it on rear track rod as disco with associated parts needed

Fitted a bracket. The Bar comes with a slot machined in it, for the bracket to locate into. Reckon the garage has fitted it wrong tho, cos the far end of the bracket only just touches the steering bar. It needs moving inboard so the Outer edge of the bracket sits in the slot. Instead of the Inboard edge of the bracket been there.

So will the defender drop arm not fit the disco box as I was looking on ebay and the ones on there say they fit disco, def, rrc???
