Sorry guys saw a message on a search about marks on steering box when changing drag link can someon please tell me where they are I may be being blind but cant see them any help appreciated

No marks on box. Drop arm will only fit one way because it has a master spline. If renewing drag link joints, set joints in link equal turns, set steering box in straight ahead position, run cord from back wheels to front till wheels are in line, then adjust drag link till it drops easily back in to tapers. Should be near as dammit then. Just check you have full lock both ways. Done, cheers

RAVE would disagree with that statement. There are specific instructions on centering the steering box. Not doing this correctly results in vague steering. What you say above is good only if the drag link has never been replaced by someone who has then found the steering wheel out of centre and then moved it, instead of adjusting length of drag link to centre the steering wheel.

If Rave read it correctly he would see that the wheels have to be in line before the drag link is dropped in to the tapers with the drop arm in the straight ahead position. You do not adjust the link to centralize the steering wheel. Cheers

I managed to do a straight swop of old for new and all seems ok apart from vague steering now the steering wheel has been replaced so could this be the issue mentioned in rave?
