Hi All
following earache from shmbo (she who must be obeyed) bought a 2004 td6 vogue .Had it 4 months
Im having trouble with the heavy steering ,my p 38 is super super light to the l322. Ive tried reading up on it
invested in a rsw solutions programme ,connected it and it shows no faults on the body control module ,i also disabled the "transport " mode . Made no difference . Oddly though the rsw programme tells me its a later 2005 module . The paperwork shows it was changed 18 months ago by Land rover main agent .
Im going to have a go myself can someone please advise on the following :-
On another web site it says that at low revs the steering is light and becomes heavier with speed (mines heavy all the time ) If i disconnect the servomatic (i think thats what its called ) start it would the sterring be light so indicating the bcm ?
Accordingly if its still heavy could it then be the steering pump? I dont have the land rover clock, hose, tap unit so i would then swap out the steering pump.
Any one had any similar problems ?
Thanks to any that take the time to answer
sorry covered 98,000 miles

Hi, sorry I don’t have the answers for you but hopefully someone else can help as I have noticed similar issues also an intermittent lumpy feedback through the steering wheel. Mine is in for MoT today so may get a report on that if significant enough.
Cheers Tricky.

I know this is very , very, very basic but, what the hell. Have you checked the simple things? The battery? A battery losing power, the tiniest bit of power, can affect the steering ( and EAS but I'll come back to that) .
Have you checked fluid for level/leaks?
Told you I was going basic ;)

The reason I mention battery, and EAS, is because in one of my many battery sagas, heavy steering and EAS fault were running hand in hand. I have noticed, with mine, any drop in battery EAS strops first, then steering/stereo. Those two taking turns in which strops first.
Don't shoot me for going back to basics :(
