Hi everyone, when steering to the left at low speeds (might be the same at speed just cannot hear it) there is low groan from the steering. Has anyone ever come across this & if so what is it? Snoops:confused:

Had 2 Disco 300's and both make noises from the power steering. There is a service bulletin somewhere about a harmonic vibration as the PS fluid flows through the pipes. If thats what it is then its not a problem. I think you can find the bulletin on the RAVE manual.

Yeah you've obviously got the same problem as me glad I've got it sorted so quickly we may as well have a moderator close this thread now as it is sorted:lol:

Thank you Diver, i suppose it could be a harmonic vibration just a bit confused why it only happens on left hand turns:)

ive got a noise when steering left too, normal driving slow left turns it doesnt do it, sometimes not at all

but then sometimes it makes a noise, or when doing 3 point turn/heavy left turn moving wheel fast, it makes it,steering works fine, mate checked fluid in the week and all looked nice he said

another mate had a look yesterday said he thinks its the steering damper ???

Noticed the same sort of thing on my D2 when I bought it last June. I remember finding a thread at the time which suggested vibrations travelling up some of the steering components (couldn't find it again to post a link sorry). Garage have checked it out last service haven't found anything dodgy and it has never worsened.
