Hi I need help to chose the steel wheel’s for my Defender 90. I’m wondering if somebody who owns ET0 wheels could let me try 1 wheel on my Defender to check how far they stick out, before I purchase the new set of wheels?

I thought you needed between a 22 and 33mm offset ?
What year is your D90 ?

Hi I have 1989 Defender but at the minute it has Disco 5 spoke wheels on it ANR1689, May be previous owner changed it along with rear Disco axles

Now you've confused me ...

The ANR1689 have an ET of 33mm.
I have Wolf steels on my 1995 D90 with fat tyres and they don't come out to the arches either ... no ones wheels do (do they ?)
Unless you fit spacers I guess, but that would be silly.
Mine look to be around 2" inside.
My 6.5" Wolf steels have an ET of 22mm, so yours likely don't stick out quite as far as mine but I will have a better turning circle as the rims are not as close to the hockey sticks (radius arms) as yours.
The same happens with 'Boost Alloys' too...

“Einpress Tiefe.” ET indicates the distance between the mounting surface and the geometric centre of the wheel (the symmetry axle), usually expressed in millimetres.

I think these 0 Offset and -25mm -35mm wheels sticks out a lot and people install wider extended wheel arches

if you want to keep the same steering lock when you fit 1 inch wider rims - guess what - the inside edge needs to stay where it was!
so, the centreline of the wheel gets moved out.
coincidentally the change from 33mm offset to 20.6 offset is pretty much 1/2 inch.

It’s fitted with 16x7j and I’m not looking for any further wider wheel like 8j or 10J, I want to keep the same size wheel 16x7j but with ET0. It might need some adjustment on the stop bolt for wheels turning point. That’s why I was thinking to check it first by putting on 1 wheel. If someone will let me try with their ET0 wheel.

Et0 will move the wheel 33mm further out from where it is now with Et33. Assuming the wheels are the same size

Hopefully it should make it further out by 33mm, I’m just waiting if someone could let me try his/her 1 wheel. I’ve even tried looking to buy a 1 wheel on EBay Facebook but no luck. Otherwise I would have to buy a new wheel then try. But no idea how that would work 😟
 
Is it a standard fit wheel? What offset do your wheels have?
They could well be zero offset already.

Offset is only part of the question. Width makes a difference too. Google is your friend if you want to know about offset.
 
If you were considering buying something to see what it looked like, your best bet would be to get some 30mm spacers. You could put these on to see what you think. Possible get a full set of 4 spacers and once you have sorted everything, sell the spacers. Cheap set of 4 spacers are £120. There are no doubt a few people on here that have a set kicking about.
Not being a disco wheel expert - I don’t know if all spacers work with your setup.
 
Most standard 'white 8 spokes' have the et you are wanting to see, a quick Google of white eight spoke defender and you will see pretty much what yours would look like. They basically make the stance wider, but they also throw shìte up the sides of the truck too, they are a very popular and common aftermarket set up, although not one I personally like

I have 8" steel modular wheels (LINK) which have a ET+8mm. With a 265/75 tyre the "bulge" of the sidewall sits flush with the edge of the arch. However the 8 spokes mentions above by @Gottschalk come with a ET+8mm in their 7" width rim.

Ah OK, sorry about that then, whenever I've spoken to paddocks/craddock et all and inquired about the 7" eights spokes or modulars that they regularly sell as wheel tyre packages, the response has always been et of 0, hence my reply before. 🫤
