hi everyone
i put a new coolant pump in a 300 engine and now it occasionally puffs clouds of steam out of the exhaust.
the coolant level does not seem to be going down but occasionally the temp gauge rises
i cant seem to understand what's happening. can anyone suggest a reason ?
i can only think of the head gasket but there is no contamination in the water or the oil.

is system completely full ie with thermostat bung out and overflowing, expansion bottle isnt necessarily an indicator of engine level ,white smoke could be intermittent injector ,or is only first thing in the morning etc

coolant full to thermostat and beyond. smell of antifreez in steam from exhaust .steams occasionally after 5 miles of driving !!
i cant get whats goin on !
