Alright, anyone got any ideas where I can get my Disco a good thorough clean underneath? I'm in Wiltshire, just south of Chippenham.

Got the MOT coming up, the rear door arch/sill needs replacing and I'd just like to get it thoroughly cleaned underneath so I can see exactly where I am with it and, finger crossed, just rub down and treat the surface area's of rust and then hammerite the whole thing.

Been trying google and searching for HGV cleaners and things but getting responses like "We only do commercial vehicles not private ones" or "We don't do it"...

Don't fancy doing it myself, I wan't a proper job doing and not going down the waxoyl route as I can't afford it, and just to pre-empt the 'waxoyl yourself' answer, I have thought about it but would still like to get it cleaned underneath if I did.

Cheers

try a local tractor dealer or coach build company cusae they dont mind bit of oil and muck around the place

WHY NOT BRUSH ON ENGINE CLEANER (sorry, and take it to a forecourt jetwash ,the ones with the drain and give the engine bay the delux treatment.

Find your local lorry service centre they will have somone doing MOT steams for trucks our local one charges £10 for over under and engine bay

i know i man that can....

they call him ......

stretchie. he will do a good job as well !!!

Turns out you weren't far wrong, got a quote to do the whole underside and engine bay for £70.

I then thought, "Do I REALLY want to do this just before the MOT?" And I came to the conclusion that I didn't want it too clean, might need some minor indescretions covered that way when (IF) it passes I'll have a bit more flexibility to sort it.

So I bought a tin of degreaser from a car shop and set to it last night, you wouldn't eat your dinner off the engine or anything but it's much better than it was and there is apparantly a steering linkage that comes from the cabin and towards the wheels.. never seen that before :D

I would like to get it proper cleaned up after the MOT and then I'll know exaclty if I have any probs that need fixing and then treat/paint the lot anyway just for piece of mind.

I took mine to the MOT all covered in mud, engine bay and all.... just pressure washed underneath as I had to work on it...

I have found a place that will steam cleam my defender for the cost of a drink, but been told not to spread the word around or else they won't do it anymore :( sorry
