So, for a good while now my 110 fitted with a discovery 200tdi has suffered from starting issues. I jump in, turn the key, to be greeted by a click.
Flat battery? Nope.
Ok, jump out, bridge the terminals on the solenoid, and it UsUALLY starts ( sometimes you just hear the starter spinning but without locating in the fly wheel). Pretty much always starts using this method, but I don't really want to have to lift the bonnet every time I want to start it.
I have just finished changing the head gasket today, and while the head and manifolds were out, I removed the starter and bench tested it. Perfect. Time after time, it worked brilliantly.
It has it's own earth lead, and when I turn the key, there is always a steady 12v to the solenoid. Any ideas? It's driving me round the bend now!!
Cheers
