Hi, my 2007 TD8 entertainment system is acting up. There is a crackle that seems to move in circles from speaker to speaker. It sounds like a static crackle and happens every few minutes while playing the radio or a CD.

Any suggestions on how to sort this? I did check the rear compartment where the amp is located for damp etc. but all seems ok but the bluetooth feature has not worked for some time. Thanks J

Most likely damp in the rear quarter even if you can't see it. Part the connectors and look for corrosion.

Yes. do not do anything until the LED on the SatNav unit has gone out.
There is no satnav fitted it is a HSE model. but I have checked and it certainly feels damp. I will use a hairdryer to gently dry up and see if it stops - thanks John

Drying out may do it or may not, you may need to sort corrosion between the pins in the connectors,

crackling has stopped!! for now. thanks for the advice. I may have to follow up and clean connectors but for now all ok and wife happy music is back in RR.

You need the JLR official upgrade to stop the water its called a piece of plastic sheet to cover the electrical kit:eek:
that was there answer to water ingress in the boot:(

Just a follow up question - drying it out was not a solution as you suggested. Crackle is back but there are lots of connectors in that compartment - are there any guides or youtube that would help me navigate. I am not even sure which module is the amp. Thanks John
