Hi all, any ideas on this? I know its not a land rover but...

A friend picked up is 2002 Rover 45 1.8 petrol today, on way home has filled it with petrol, now won't start.

All lights on dashboard light up as normal, turns key, then bleep bleep bleep but doesnt fire up.

Any ideas? Much appreciated,

Josh

Probably the same starter as the 1.8 Freelander ....Theres a thin wire that connects to the back of the starter motor on a spade connector it tends to wriggle off - see if it pushes onto the connector a bit and try it again...:)

Gonna try a jump start now, but pretty sure its the immobiliser. Any ideas on bypassing?
Thanks guys.

If the immob is on then there should be a red light on somewhere on the dash - might be the battery in the fob has a bad connection or has died hence the immob staying on.

Yeah, thats what its looking like.

Towed it home in the disco, (after reminding my friend half way to take the handbrake off and steer....). He's going to try and get the EKA code tomorrow, then try resettting it before taking it to a garage.

Thanks for your help folks

Josh

you can buy a spider to bypass imobiliser i only know this as i have same trouble with my new off roader so bought a wiring loom so i can just lock on key.
