my G reg range rover classic
is having problems

battery fine been tested

starter new to me this week i know original owner and
was all ok on his vehicle when he took off

but sometimes fine starts easy and when going no problems

then go to start and just click or all elect go inc dash lights
int lights etc

then try again say later and all ok again

thinking earth or main live cable ?????????

sometimes worse when hot but not always

ANY IDEAS WELCOME PLEASE

got to be a bad connection like you say. The flashing/clicking sounds like a flat battery but if you says that ok - its got to be a bad connection.

Id check the +ve 1st! The earth shoulnt of been disturbed. Why was the starter replaced originally though ?

was changed as it was burnt out / smelling rough as

could it have caused bad connection or even damaged cables ???????

It's unlikely to have damaged the cables. Check the battery connections are tight and clean and that the main earth from the battery to chassis is good, also check that the cables have not corroded inside the plastic sheath:)

Had a similar problem myself with the Series. Fixed the fuel not getting to the carb problem but found that one of the connections wasn't tight enough so not enough power getting to starter motor. Tightened all battery connections up and started straight away. Good luck, let us know how you get on.
