I only know where it is on my 200tdi Defender but I had the same fault. On mine it is drivers side of engine just front of centre and fairly low down. Having said that if it's not turning over it will probably be the solenoid wire on the starter motor. Same, thin wire, spade end attached to starter motor.

Sounds very familiar. I had the very same symptoms on my Defender TD5 and it turned out to be a poor connection, corrected simply by wiggling the small, exciter wire to the starter solenoid (which I was shown by the RAC Man ...
). Corrected in seconds. Good luck!

The two issues are very unlikely to be linked.
Your starting problems are almost certainly caused by a worn solenoid or an ageing battery.
There are kits for sale on Ebay to repair starter solenoids - about £10.

If it needs the solenoid kit from ebay - it is a doddle to fit. I ordered one got up Saturday morning and my 15 year old son had already fitted it ! Starter works a treat now!
