Hi, just looking for some advice on what could be causing my starting issues.

2000 P38 4.0 Thor

The car will crank no issues but just won't fire. Strangely it seems to be mostly in the mornings that it won't start but occasionally won't start during the day either. For example it would not start at all this morning , but this afternoon it fired up on the first crank.

So far I have tried:
New battery
New fuel pump
New MAF

I've read that if you turn the key to pos 2 and the eml doesn't show it could be a syncing problem with becm but the eml is illuminated when ignition is on. So does this rule that out?

Any ideas would be great. Thanks Wes

what error codes do you get? theres a few things it could be, but i think i would be checking the fusebox for loose/dodgy connections/solder joints
the easy ones to check, lift the fusebox up a little and try to wobble the 3 thick brown cables that screw into the bottom. if the terminal(s) move then thats the problem
if you're unsure then disconnect the battery as its easy to short the fusebox onto the body

Plus sniff the fuse box for signs of burning smells.

Can you test the fuel pressure at the rail?

Probably worth a compression test too.
