New barrels arnt massively expensive but I would try a repair first, nowt to lose.

That's the ign switch shown in the pic above, it's held to the barrel by two small self tappers, the ign switch is turned by the lock barrel but in the OP's case the barrel is broke and not turning the still serviceable ign switch.

But has he tried a screwdriver to see if it still runs
Them little collars break easily.
Later barrels I think this piece is missing & the rod goes straight into that hole.

Hi All
Another update. It fires up !!! It was the little collar. I managed to glue it back together and it seems to have worked. I can’t believe a tiny bit of metal could be so problematic. Just need to get the barrel back on and hope all the wiring in the dash is still in place. A big thanks for everyone’s help
