Hi all again. She still won't start. Reconditioned my starter motor and still no joy! Checked earth strap still nothing. Tested power on battery and seems fine? But when I turn the key dash lights flicker and starters clicks but nothing! Help!! I need my motor running!
 
Just used another battery and hey presto she's going so all along a dodgy battery! Well I'm a spaz haha thanks for everyones in put much appreciated. Kass
 
How did you test your battery? If you stuck a multimeter across it then it won't you ****. A battery needs a load applying to draw a current and cause a bolt drop. The best way is with a battery tester, or if you don't have one, two people and a multimeter. Stick the meter on the battery, DC volts, then get your oppo to turn the engine over. That will give you the battery voltage.

As for testing the alternator, do all the above then when it starts check the voltage, if its charging it will be between 12.7-14v.
 
Get one of these - eBay look up 12v meter cost a couple of pounds.

Had a similar issue the other hear it was as simple as needed new terminals on the wires to the starter they were corroded and had gone loose not had an issue since then, to test run a new but of wire from battery to starter, I cant remember if the imob lets it start like that or it just turns over bjt it proves power to starter is ok, if it is ok its prob ignition switch or immob id guess
 
dash lights flickering and clicking starter, battery first choice, take out charge or get new one. then look at connections, Vaseline on the terminals etc. as already mentioned above

If it's a healthy alternator, I'd want at least 13.2v out of it...
