Hi everyone starter motor turns over with no key inlock the only way i can stop it is to take out relay or disconect the battery can anyone help.

Check for earth continuity from pin 2 on starter relay socket. If continuity is present. Look at ignition switch. Earth continuity should only be present with ignition in position three. What engine what year?

Thanks every one for your help changed fusebox job done but lost fog lights is it the fusebox thats nocked them out thanks again.

They are controlled from the BECM, possibly the data field for the fogs has been corrupted and will need re-setting on diagnostics or maybe you fitted the wrong fuse box.

The light comes on the switch but no lights any help
Diagnostics I'm afraid, you need to check that the fog lights are activated in the BECM, that's assuming you fitted the correct fuse box, there are several different types.
If you look at RAVE, you can trace the wiring to the connectors at the BECM and test with a meter that the signal is getting there from the switch and also if the output to the fogs is working.

is the fusebox on a se the same as a hse could that be the problem with my fog lights hope some one cann help me thanks

You should always fit a new fuse box with the same part number as the old one, however I can't see a fuse specific to the fog lights as they are switched by the BECM. If you look in RAVE, it shows the switch which applies a ground to the BECM input when operated, there are then 2 outputs from the BECM, one for the left fog light one for the right.
No point in guessing, you need to put a meter on the connectors at the BECM and check what happens when you switch on. The alternative is as I said before, diagnostics.

Looking a bit further, there is a bulb fail warning, so if there was a wiring or bulb open circuit, you would get the error message, so I'm pretty sure the problem is in the BECM, somehow the function has been switched off.

Thanks for your help not the original becm the fusebox that worked the fogs on the inside near the power inlets for the becm reads 318547056 utmai land-rover 38a (petrol) 12858 i dont suppose this helps.ps the best thing iv done is sign up to landy zone

You can fit fog lamps to any P38. SE/HSE makes no difference to fog lamps. It just maybe that the donor vehicle did not have fogs fitted and they need switching on with diagnostics.

Whilst I have no reason to question you Tony, but with the Diesel, you may have to make provision for the Gearbox oil cooler....

Yes whilst it is not recommended that you fit fogs to the diesel, the fact remains that they can be fitted. If so, must be switched on in BECM. My diesel has fogs but also has a vented bumper cover, so it can be done. As the OPs appears not to be a diesel, he mentions SE/HSE not DSE/DHSE it did not come into the equation. :):):)
