They are a pain to put together. i seem to remember slipping the spings onto the edges of the brush holders until the brushes are over the end of the communtator then flipping them onto the brushes. Even that way its still really fiddly. With jobs like this i often wonder what the tool looked like that they used on the production line.

Yeah proper fiddley it was testing my patience
