Hi To All

I have just gone to start my 1999 TD5 Defender, and it was hard to start. On the third attempt to start it, the starter motor stoped turning over, and there was just a very loud and rapid clicking noise. Is this my starter motor gone??
Please Help...............

I'm sorry to break the bad news to you but you have whats known in the trade as a FLAT BATTERY.:doh::doh:

check the voltage with a multimeter and you should find it below 12.5 volts

Weird! Could this be the alternator??
Battery was absolutely fine yesterday. I went out for a run today so the batteries ( I have a split charging system, so have two batteries) were fine.

Whats the cca on the batterys? If they aren't strong then can easily run flat...even after 3 attempts to start..
