hi guys, i,m wondering if anyone can enlighten me a little...... lol.
starter motor on my disco 1 is still engaged when engine is running, took starter motor off, checked to see if starter dog was jammed, it isn't.. so does anyone have any suggestions please:

pull the solenoid wire off if that stops it it could be ignition switch or relay ,if it doesnt a solenoid issue

hi trax, starter is engaging with starter ring, just won't disconnect from it, James martin, when i disconnect the battery the state disengages but obviously the engine is still running, , so i,m thinking electrical but just not sure where to look. thanks for responses

like james said then. pull the lil spade (red/white) from the solenoid on the starter and see if it stops.

if so then the wire still has 12v going to it (check with multimeter). it should only have that when you turn the ign to start it up.

follow it back, either stuck relay or ign switch. :) (i'd say relay first)

it will if you disconnect battery ,but dont keep doing that the alt wont like it, pull the little trigger wire off the solenoid spade terminal, then youll know if its starter or ignition switch/relay

cheers trax, i will try that, disco has been standing outside for about 3 years in norway, so i guess i can expect a few niggles, but one relay under the bonnet was kind of hanging in half, i think its the preheat one

think this is right for you. yellow by the looks of it

very useful picture trax. much appreciated, the haynes manual is not really that specific, I'm sure this will help me
