Hi I am looking to purchase a EGR blanking mod kit, and wonder what is the benefits of a stainless steel version if any.

After searching and reading many threads I cannot see if there is any real benefits.

Any opinions appreciated.

None whatsoever just make sure you get a good quality unit.

Thanks for the reply, how can you tell a "good quality" one from the rest, It may seem a daft question but as I look they all seem of similar quality and price, Island 4x4, John Craddocks, First Four, Ebay all look alike and priced similar £28-£40ish.

what engine?

Theres no benifit of what the blank is made of. In fact theres not much benifit of buying a blank off kit, even less so now that if the valve is missing it may well fail an mot?? did it not change so missing egrs are a fail??.

What you want is to stop the egr valve opening and allowing exhaust smoke in to the inlet. If its vac operated...pull the pipe off and plug it....or push a ball bearing up it and refiit the pipe....sorted....free :)

Mine was about £30 off eBay. Obviously you can't tell the quality from the pic, however make sure it's got a pin for the vacuum hose as some on eBay don't appear to have one.

Doubt it's an mot fail, mines just passed and with the amount of members here that have done the EGR blank, there would be uproar!

It's worth putting in the silicone hoses at the same time if your budget allows, not really a noticeable power increase, but standard hoses can be prone to split (which can cause lost performance) and the look cool - check my photos.

Thanks for your reply I cannot find a definitive answer to the EGR/MOT fail question you mentioned have you a link to some info I could browse.

Thanks for the reply I have already changed the hoses over to the blue silicone ones (They do look cool Agreed)

Cheers the reason I ask for details regarding the mot is I think I'm right in saying from February 2015 the inspection is changing regarding the particulate filter but I cannot find any information regarding the egr .
