Are these worth rebuilding/restoring? I believe some bits for them are unobtainable? There is one parked in a field close to where I live.

A very rare Series/defender prototype..

Nah leave it mate, worth fĂșck all..:D

You can fabricate alot of the shyte needed to put them together ;)

They arnt a Defender prototype, from what I understand they were produced to keep the old dated series competitive, it may have led the way to coilers, but its not a prototype.

After the lock down is over I might go and enquire about it, Ive known about it for some time now and its niggling me! What kind of money would something thats been sat in a field be worth?

They were the precursor to the 90/110 quite an interesting vehicle LT95 and a 3.5.
Range rover running gear IIRC

Good point, it would need matching numbers to make it worthwhile?
They will always be worth restoring matching numbers would be a bonus.
The last series I looked at in a field looked reasonable until we went to move it, folded like an accordion o_O
Hard to put a price on it without pics & knowing what condition its in.

Last time I seen it it was on what looked like an old trailer, been there a good while as the trailer is totally rotten, my guess is was someones project waiting to happen but its still worth enquiring about.

The V8 is would be more or less the same as that of the Range Rover of the same period but detuned some.
The items that may be hard to get are the constant velocity joints needed in the front axle because it was permanent four wheel drive like a 110/90. The only series 3 type fitted with them and not the same as 110/90 ones.

Can only ask I suppose, landys lying in fields all over the place here but no-one will sell them.....
They would rather see them rot. :( Get some pics the next time your passing.

Thats an achilles heel right there, thats what I am afraid of. Something as simple as that being unobtainable.

You have to ask, and sooner or later the owner will realise a few quid is more use than watching it rot away.
