Dr I have or will have by this evening a defender cv joint fitted to a series axle. Custom shafts are £160+vat each 24 spline 300m material

this a custom job by you I take it ?

I was planning on just dropping a modded disco axle on the front but saw the stage one and know they're pretty good

have you managed to fit a CV to either end of a prop before ? I'm thinking I'm gonna have to in order to work with my weird operating angle on the rear

Not tried the propshaft by my rear prop is sooo tight might be a custom jobbie.

Problem with fitting a later axle is you lose ground clearance or its a right bodge up I have a disco axle casing here i did and its poor you lose at least an inch maybe more and the castor is no good for racing/driving on road. We're limited to 33 inch tyres every bit counts. When we spend half our income getting that bit more of an advantage on our motors doing somthing that makes it worse is just a backwards step imo.

Thats the thing though I don't need it on mine so much as its going to be roads and greenlanes so could get away with it

Might be less time consuming to do it your way though and I'd still get discs that way I presume

Forgot to add I like the narrowness of the series good for trials and wider wheels can be fitted to gain stability Not losing the series "look" is important to me fitting defender cv's to a series axle was my cheapest option. the back end I have almot done the homemade salisbury locker bit more dremeliling and it will be a change of hub cap and we will be locked for winch comps or norml hub caps we're good for ALRC trials with open diffs

Sorted!!!!

Cappings are galv'd so if the don't fit my 110 I'll be in touch

my series bodywork has been butchered by the previous owner so I now have to use wheel arches as he'd drilled and poorly riveted on a set so was thinking with some very very narrow 35mm arches and the disco axle on front and possibly sals on rear it'd make it look right

by locker have you messed with the ramps inside it to make it more biased or actually fitted a locking system? I was thinking about bringing the diff centre into uni workshop and messing with the clutch plates if I was doing it that way.

Sure are. The 2/2a is basically a chassis with a few panels. The V8 doesn't have much left either now lol

Good to put it to use rather than crush them...

Not often you see landies in persley, a few freelanders and thats about it. Still trying to find breakers locally, but they seam to be few and far between
