Hello all

Boring boring boring I know but this question is slightly different.........

Bought a 06 FREELANDER which was involved in a minor front end collision, drivers and passenger airbags deployed.

I have had it repaired and I have replaced the airbags, the dash SRS light has annoyingly stayed on so here is my quiestion.......

Do I need to replace anything else, maybe the the airbag module or will it be just a case of plugging her in and clearing/re-setting it at the garage?

many thanks in advance

Darren

Once a collision causes an airbag to fire the SRS ECU has to be replaced, it cannot be reset with diagnostics. There are a couple of places that recondition them I think.

there's also the seat belt pre-tensioners to consider as well. if they are activated or even disconnected, this will bring up an SRS fault

Thanks for the replies, could I buy a secondhand one off fleabay and just replace or will it need programming to the system? Also where are they and how do you tell if the seatbelt pre tensioners are shot??

Thanks again, you guys are invaluable

You can get the airbag ecu virginized by a specialist. Even a second hand that have never been in a crash need to be programmed to your car. It is also recommended to replace wiring from airbag ecu to every module.
