How old is the car? If it has side airbags, the connectors under the seats have been known to cause problems. You are supposed to disconnect the battery and leave it for 30 minutes (10 mins in RAVE)for the back up to discharge before working on the car or you could have a nasty accident!

An SRS light is NOT an MOT fail & when the SRS light is on you should get a "Airbag Fault" on the display ..... if you push the bottom button on the left stalk it'll revert to "Range" ...

In my case the fault was caused during the battery change & is a "HARD" fault & needs clearing with Testbook ....As mine would NEVER go near a LR dealership (Coz I'm not a millionaire) .. its stayed there for the 6 months I've had the car & the 3 1/2 years the previous owner had it as well.

Mate, what do you mean by HARD fault? Mine also have the SRS light on.

And on the display, it shows "max speed 35mph". Why is that?

Quite correct, as a matter of fact there is no mention whatsoever of SRS in MOT manual.

Hi I just got a 1996 4.6 range rover. before i got it from my mate he had some work done on the track rob ends so it would pass mot. Iwe think they let it run out of fuel. it was very lumpy i changed fuel filtter and it run better but still not as it should run. shall i change air & spark plugs? put in injecter cleaner. This car has only done 1000 miles in 2.6 years. any help would be great Jay

That means you have an EAS fault and the suspension is down on the bump stops:eek:
this will explain EAS fault [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kpk2i-mcOGQ"]YouTube- Range Rover EAS - What Is An EAS Fault[/nomedia]

As Data said.. "Max 35MPH" is an EAS fault & nowt to do with the SRS light

Also there are "Hard" faults & "Soft" faults .....A "Soft" fault will "Self Clear" once you've fixed what caused it.... a "Hard" fault will remain even when you've cured the condition that caused it in the first place.

You'll need access to LR "TestBook" to clear that type of fault
