What naughty language? Nothing out the norm for this place. Plus the Mods are normally the guys that use it. :D:D:D

What does the SRS actually do?

Will the vehicle suffer if I don't get the SRS light extinguished?

Same has occurred on my TD4 2001 Commercial Van - SRS light stays on now (95K on clock).

I will check the seat belt pre-tensioner wiring (yellow plugs) under the seats as someone else suggested unplugging then plugging back in a few timers can solve the problem.

Alternatively would a 'Hawkeye' diagnostic tool reset the SRS light?

Would it also tell me what was causing the light to appear?

Or would it have to be a more professional diagnostic tool that can do that, like the 'testbook' or similar?

If I needed a new SRS module, can the hawkeye program it or do they come programmed already?

Are they easy to change?

Thanks in advance. :D

The hawkeye can see into the air bag phooter for faults, and to clear codes. I guess if you clear the fault codes, and the fault is also fixed, and the air bags have never been set off, then the srs lamp will go out? Mines never failed so I can't say for sure.

The SRS activates the airbags which are meant to save your life if the seatbelt doesn't. (Also the seatbelt tensioner?) If the light is on, it isn't working. And will fail MoT (that's advice from Dealer, so may not be true). I'm not sure the diagnostics always work. On my Disco, the dealer's diagnostics allegedly told them to fit a new steering wheel airbag. The problem was actually a loose connector under passenger seat. And when I sorted that out, the light reset itself.

Srs light was also on on mine. Cleaned all the connectors and replugged several times but it didn't go out. Got the light reset on testbook and it's stayed off since. I wonder if this "one use only, needs to be replaced" refers to if the airbags actually go off, rather than just a fault causing the light to come on.
