Checked out a few threads on this subject and there is mention of disconnecting yellow wires under seats. I can see yellow sheathed SRS wires behind the dash and glovebox but these don't seem to be under the seat. All I can see under the seat that is yellow is some wiring with yellow box relays attached.
Any ideas.

Side bags only fitted 99 on. If your car is before 99 it won't have any yellow connectors under seats.

Thanks I've just had binnacle apart put new dials in whilst I was there I put 2 new SRS bulbs in for good measure. Was hoping it was that simple ..so it's not that ..

As long as they are both good and have proper connections. Did you have the problem before you took the binnacle out?

Yes it's been on the to do list. Had loads of faults windows not set etc, select neutral. I've had centre consol out to investigate select neutral problems changed cable and took gear selectors out. Turned out to be a fried transfer motor ecu, changed motor and ecu. Select neutral fixed.. Had front bumper off to be resprayed and also had battery on and off whilst been messing around. Can't see anything wrong with crash sensors at front .
Where would you look next... SRS ecu ?

Low battery volts can trigger an SRS fault, needs diagnostics to re-set.

Definitely fault needs clearing. I used faultmate to clear mine, it but it only did briefly. It diagnosed THE AIRBAG FIRING CIRCUIT IS MEASURING SHORT TO GROUND. On another forum it recommended changing the rotary coupler which I did. However I was still left with the fault. I the suspected the ECU as a new fault was is THE AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT HAS DETECTED AN INTERNAL FAULT. I checked most of the connections but did not want to go as far as testing the short diodes until I had exhausted all other possibilities. I never located the short diodes which are parts of the loom. I could not get details of where they are located. I then replaced the airbags with known good ones. However all to no avail. I never solved the problem. This rangie is now an offroader and spares donor so msg is not a problem.

Well it must be my lucky day. SRS Light out AIRBAG FAULT gone. Got a garage mate to put his laptop on it. Couldn't get communication. Suspect no power checked fuse box and fuse 23 missing. Put 10 amp fuse in and hey presto lights gone out.

Only fault now is sunroof not set. Set windows ok but sunroof won't reset the same way.

Seeing as how fuse 23 powers SRS diagnostic module, that not being there will do it every time. :D:D
