sorry for the long awaited reply yes i fixed the issue with the ebay replacement. took awhile to come.

So when i replaced this i locked steering wheel in place.
the ebay replacement came and both terminals were on the south position. Plugged in the back cables, screwed the device in. fed the wires through the steering wheel at the centre position. by turning unit 180 anti clock wise. I then broke the pull tab off that keeps it from turning clockwise/ tightened the steering wheel down. replaced battery.

turned over and light was still on so switched off and light went out. started and tested lock to lock and still no light. horn is also working now again too.

cheers for your helps

fitted new alternator in the hopes of it getting rid of a bearing noise. must be the tensioner making that racket(oopsy i didn't test first). alternator did feel a bit rough and the noise aint nearly as bad. going to just send for a mot.once Ive done the back brakes i think. see how it gets on.

Hi folks. The SRS light lit up on a family member's 2004 Freelander TD4 while I was investigating a noise from the power steering pump for them. I was turning the steering from left to right a few times. And the SRS light came on. About 5 Years ago, The Horn on the vehicle stop working. I checked the fuses first at the time, No joy, Then I disconnected the battery . And unscrewed the airbag from the steering wheel etc...to get at the clock spring. I remember pricing them, and OEM ones were a few hundred pounds. There was no SRS light issue back then with the vehicle, So I did the right thing & put a push button on the dash with a separate relay & horn in the engine bay near the battery location. So it would pass its annual roadworthy test. Long story short, I connect the scan tool i have (Autel Maxicheck ) to the vehicle & these are the codes that SRS ECU was showing. I then cleared codes on the scanner and the light went out. Took it for test drive and light so far thankfully is staying off.
