Hi, after a bit of advice if possible.

My IIA is squealing like a pig when accelerating through the gears, particularly bad in 3rd. Will stop briefly when in overdrive but starts again. Doesn't happen all the time, just when it feels like it apparently.

I'm guessing this is a fan belt issue, but I have no previous experience to support that. Does anyone know what I should be looking for or general tips on how to fix it? Any help would be very gratefully received.

Thank you

It could be anything really but if its doing it when going in and out of o/d then I would suggest looking at the gearbox and or the o/d, is the S2a still using its original S2a gearbox or is it using a S3 gearbox if later the release bearing could be worn making it squeal, it mite be worth checking the gearbox, transferbox and o/d oil levels also check each of the units oil for metal particales in the oil, hope this helps :)

A loose or worn fan belt usually squeals when you first start up and drive away, especially in damp conditions. Once the engine has been running for a little while the squealing stops. You can check the fan belt by holding it on its longest length and pulling it tight, it shouldn't pull more than about 3/4 inch. I shouldn't need to say this but obviously you do this whilst the engine is stopped. Also look for cracks or splits in the rubber.

Check your gearbox/overdrive and transferbox oil levels as cornish rattler say's
They sure do squeal if no oil.

Excellent, thanks everyone. Will start with the fan belt then the oil levels. Cheers
