Squealling like mad, new OEM belt. what needs to be checked please?

Just had it fitted as I am out of action.

Got AC, ACE, and viscous fan

Are you sure it's the belt and not a pulley?

The chap doing it is a decent mechanic so I think he is right. Also it was the horrid belt squeal before.

Just changed mine (Disco1) with a Dayco tensioner and belt. No more chirping

Found more, needs a tensioner and my belt is dDayco

Having a similar problem myself and currently collecting parts. Got a genuine LR belt but don't fancy paying their prices for a tensioner.

Can't seem to find a Dayco tensioner for a td5 though. Plenty for 300tdi's and D2 V8's.

Anyone know if one is available for a td5 D2? If so, where from?

Thanks Thomo. I take it that Dayco is the OEM then.

Not a bad price for genuine as the Dayco ones I found for the 300tdi and V8 all came in at around £48.

Yes Dayco is OEM, not worth the hassle fitting the cheap part. My chirp came back instantly with the cheap ones but nothing with the Dayco . 20 min job on my 300 , 15mm ring spanner is all that's needed

Now sorted but hit my money hard, found a seized caliper when changing a wheel for me!

So far bad elbow has cost me £120 or so.
