OK time to ask for help once more from the RR guru's!

Well my rad went a few weeks back although a while before that I started having a squeaking or sound of a slipping belt? But only when accelerating? On tick over wouldn't make a noise. no throttle but moving again nothing but when pulling away noise is there? When you accelerate harder it speeds up and when WOT either going to quick to make the noise or stops.

Now when I swapped the rad had a look checked a few things over all looked ok, new rad fitted and noise went. Great . . . but then its just come back again and this time makes sound when idling. Although when idling the sound changes slightly to a whooshing sound in a 4/4 beat style?

Rubbish explanation although if anyone has any ideas or what belts to change I can get them done!

Thanking you all!!

Scotty

Thanks for the quick reply. Was it a simple job to replace? What else would you freshen up while you were doing it? Might aswel get as many jobs done as I can!!

Did the new HG fix it then i take it?

i left it n left it then one day she started to sound like a steam engine so did the HGs, not too bad a job just a bit fiddly getting the manifold heat sheild and the manifold on the drivers side off.. change oil n filter plugs n leads too oh and you might want to change the belt coz you gotta take it off any way... good luck with it.. its not as daunting as it looks..make sure you get heads skimmed

try island 4x4 for the parts

Great thanks for the advise!! Im moving house in a week and she will be needed as a work mule so if it will last for 2 weeks il get it all done then. Sorry to sound simple. . well I know im simple. . . what belts can I swap while im there? Ive had a look as Island 4x4 so will get a HG and service kit to give her a freshen up!!

From Scotty's description, it looks like I'm having the same problem.
Any other signs to check for, to make sure it is the HG ?

Already spoken to my old man (who happens to be a mechanic!! BONUS!! Albeit HGV but done cars for years). So booked it in with him for a couple of weeks once moved in new house to get the head skimmed and all the rest overhauled while im there.

mcapinha - if it is the same hope you get it sorted, just a bit annoying isn't it with the bloody noises!! Trying to pull away quietly and you get that going!! Nightmare!!
