My 300tdi 110 has all the usual expected rattles clunks and bangs. They were driving me nuts so today I have replaced the front diff, front half shafts and cv joints and wheel bearings, also did the front discs, pads and calipers (they were seized) and the brake mud shields (they were rotten). One bearing had no grease whatsoever, the cv joint the other side was very scummy and the diff had a knackered bearing. Now runs much smoother.

When I took it for a spin I heard a squeak. This might be new, or it might have been there all along and it was being drowned out by the other noises. The squeak is intermittent. I've checked all the stuff I've done today, everything is nice and tight, no moving parts rubbing, so I don't think it's anything from that lot.

Any suggestions?

What kind of squeak, when does it occur?

I am changing the UJs on the prop shafts in the next couple of weeks as they sounded like a bird under acceleration.
