This is a bizarre one but i noticed this morning that ive got a squeak, sounds like a belt but its not a continuous squeel like a belt - i had this and it went away with a douse of belt dressing the weird thing is it only does it under load and only above 2k revs and if you increase the revs it doesn't seem to get worse?? its like a bird's chirp, its loud enough to hear in the cab and you can hear it over the traffic noise with the window open, sat in traffic it doesn't do it until you pull off again lift off the throttle and it seems to be gone - at any rev point..
im wondering if anyone has any ideas what to look for first? im going to do the belt anyway but while im in there i thought if anyone can shed any light on it ill do it all at once..
i did wonder if its my viscous at fault i've heard they can seize off centre as there has always been a little vibration in the car but i put it down to the AT tyres as its only that sort of vibration this is maybe pulling the tensioner - but then wouldn't it be the same free revving as under load????
Cheers in advance guys...

I have the same problem - I believe this is the issue: http://www.discovery2.co.uk/CrankPulley.html
hmm wouldn't say this is the same as what i have, i saw this myself but start up and shut down its as quiet as a mouse and the crank inertia change would certainly make it audible, more so than at 2000 revs in my opinion.. The squeak isn't metallic as usually reported with the crank pulley, mine sounds more like a bearing squeal but only as a squeak.. also i would expect if it were the crank pulley the noise to change in frequency as the revs increase and decrease but once the pulley catches up to the rotational speed it should stop squeaking???

Leaking exhaust manifold gasket?

Or if more continuous, a leak on the inlet side after the turbo.

ill have a look towards the manifold, it not so long ago had a brand new turbo fitted so i assume the manifold has been off...although would this "blow" not be constant and irrelevant of load on the engine?

The noise could be a dry universal joint bearing, try greasing the uni joints on the drive shafts front and rear.
Sometimes one cup can be dry and the needle rollers will give a squeak when under load.

Not on one cylinder, the inlet manifold is under pressure also but more of a steady push.

Well you were bang on Gazbo.. the Cardon joint was what was causing the squeak..
