Just noticed this whilst sorting out the starter motor on the td4. I don't think it should be squashed and looks to me like maybe air con?

Can anyone shed any light onto it? I couldn't really see it properly as I kept making a shadow. On left hand side of engine near header tank.

Er, power steering?

And nearly every one iv'e seen is the same, with no effect on performance at all. Ever.

Yep, it is meant to be like that. :)

They're not supposed to be like that but they all are. They should have used a supported pipe but didn't. The pipe is flattened because the rack bypass isn't large enough to take the flow capacity of the pump.
Don't worry about it though it's a design fault that luckily doesn't cause a issue ;)
