I have a 1996 defender 110 300 tdi that I purchased about 3 months ago and I love it to death. Right now I have a squealing sound over 40 Km/h when I turn right. Any ideas what it could be? Below 40 Km/h it doesn't make it and it only does it when I turn right. The truck as only 69 000 Km and the brakes were done front and rear in 2008. I like to troubleshoot myself problems like this but this one I need help. And I don't want to bring it to the LR dealer as they cost an arm and both legs around here. Anybody have any ideas? The serpentine belt squeal as well in the cold morning or when it is really humid. I spay it with a small shot of WD40 and it's OK. does't that means I require a new belt? And yes I think it's the original but it looks fine. thanks.

I'd replace the belt .. it could be the power steering pulley squeaking on the belt too .. and see if that cures the PS issue.

I'm assuming the 300Tdi Defender is a very similar lump to the Disco and the belt turns the PS pump too?

Try a bit of talc powder.

Where are you?

I am in Germany east of Düsseldorf.

I will try the talk powder on the belt when I have a chance and it has to be something with the belt as I spray it real quickly with WD-40 and it stops right away it last for about a day.I make sure I spray the belt only to confirm the noise was coming from the belt. Could it be the tensionner not set properly? I am not convince the front whell bearing would make noise only at a certain angle and at a certain speed. And it's kind of time consuming to get to it to make sure it is or is not the problem. But I guess I will have to find out soon as it is driving me crasy.
