This is my little bundle of fluffiness at 9 weeks,

He did however grow, (sometimes overnight:D:D), into this slightly larger bundle of fluffiness.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

No still done the Kennel club standards

Fortunately UK law over rules KC regulations. Dogs can only have their tails docked if they are a recognised working dog breed. or there is an urgent medical reason.

DAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Thats the only ones the kennel club do......... are the recognized working breeds. Now tell me something I don't know.

He is a bit cute. It's a pain walking him thou as every one wants to fuss him. Lol

Tell em he bites and has fleas. :D :D It is amazing how stupid some people can be. When I had me rotty. I was amazed at the number of people who would stick their hands, within reach of his mouth. Or let their kids just run up to him. He was soft as ****e, but they didn't know that..

Iv just recently had a working cocker spaniel called Bruce. He is only 12 weeks old and he has had his tail docked when he was very young it was done legitimately as they were bred to be worked I have the certificate. However I am not goin to work him he is just a family pet.
He is great very intelligent for a puppy.

I would recommend spaniels as they are a good friendly Clever dog.

Are you a c*ck or just trying hard to seem like one?

Being from a recognised working breed is not enough. Evidence has to be shown to the vet that the dogs are likely to be worked.

The vet must have a completed statement, signed and dated by the owner of the dog (or by another person whom the veterinary surgeon to whom it is presented reasonably believes to be representing the owner), made in the form set out in the regulations. The vet must see the dam of the dog and a further piece of evidence such as:
a current shotgun or firearm certificate issued to the owner of the dog, or to the agent or employee of the owner most likely to be using the dog for work in connection with the lawful shooting of animals OR
a letter from a gamekeeper, a land occupier (or his agent), a person with shooting rights, a shoot organiser, a club official, a person representing the National Working Terrier Federation, or a person engaged in lawful pest control, stating that the breeder of the dog whose tail is to be docked is known to him and that dogs bred by that breeder have been used (as the case may be) on his land, or in his shoot, or for pest control.

Also docked dogs may not be shown at a public fee paying event for anything other than a demonstration of working ability if docked after 2007

i had a springer.first dog we had when got married many years ago.got to say the best trained dog i ever had.i did spend alot of time with the dog, when training her.they will eat up several big walks a day.and if there are rabbits or birds about you will see tail go super speed.i do have six boxers now though.complete differant dog.so if you have loads of time and can go lots of walks, best of luck.

Just cut the tail off no big deal. Have done many. My jacks got a short tail. If a JR and not a docked tail then they are not proper JR:D

Get caught with a JR with a docked tale without a vets certificate and face 51weeks in nick and or a £20k fine. You can still nget em docked in \Wales though

I've had springers all my life - currently just 2, Jack (9) and Dexter (4).
I train and work them for shooting and it is essential for the wellbeing of the dog that their tails are docked. The skin on their tails is thin and when working their tails go 10 to the dozen. If they're not docked, the tails get ripped to shreds on the brambles.
It is legal for their tails to be docked provided it is done by a vet, who will require evidence that the pups are bred for working (even if they don't actually end up in a working home). The breeder should have a certificate from the vet proving that they have been docked legally.

If you are looking to get one as a pet, I would go for an undocked one, without too many FTCh's in the breeding. That way you're less likely to get a "hot" one that's too hyper for a non-working home.

They love lots of exercise, but it's not true that they must have lots.
Mine get 2 45min runs every day and that keeps them fit enough to work all day in the shooting season.

They're cheap to run too - I feed mine on Dr John Silver at £9.99 for 15Kg and they thrive on it. They also have few genetic problems.

Keep the hair on their ears trimmed and you should have no problems.
