That's what I was thinking, though just been looking at polybushes and they look to just be two plastic inserts and a metal tube that all looks like it might slide out too.

Guess I'll just have to put the spring on and see what happens. If it rattles/slides/falls off I think I might throw in the towel and take it to the garage...though I really don't like to give in!

now just stop and look at the design of the shackles first this is so basic it gets missed by so many it doesnt really matter if the bushes are a little slack in the hole as when the bolt is through it and the shackle plate on both sides it traps the fukker in the rail anyway and cannot be removed once assembled

if your worried about play in the bush and it slides in and out of the tube easy ( by hand ) just slide the bugger out and smear it with instant gasket or any high opacity silicone sealant coz when that goes off and gets it the bugger is going nowhere :D:D

Fair enough, when I had a look it looked like the shackles could rub on the chassis if it slid a bit, but to be honest I didn't look too closely.

Cheers Johnny

I actually covered the bugger in copper grease before I put it in because I thought it would be a right c**t to get in! I've just painted all round that bit of the chassis after welding it and am now tempted to just leave it as it is. If it seems to be a problem after a few hundred miles I'll pop the bugger out and loctite it in as you say.

I'm hoping the other two springs will be easier than this one...and I spot less tin-worm while I'm doing it. Just bought a new o/s footwell to go in as well....no idea how to fit it! I'm proper busy with work at the moment, otherwise I'd fabricate a new footwell after being inspired by your bulkhead rebuilding!

if im right the worst one on yours is the drivers side front as its the corner that gets more of a battering when being driven
spray from oncoming traffic and puddles in lanes always seem to be deeper and more frequent on the drivers side
all the other corners are more protected from evryday weather and water abuse youll notice the rear passengers spring hangers will be **** easy compared to the rest of them as its furthest away from the main abuse corner ;);)

Aye, I did that one first. It was a piece o **** compared to the drivers side front. Got the other two to do yet. Hopefully they should be a bit simpler. At least I know what to do now....lose your temper and just throw everything at the bastard until it pops out!

Suppose the passenger side is kept a bit warmer by the exhaust too...
