hi, do with oily muddy people of Landyzone have any idea on the cost I might be charged for get a 90’s white roof sprayed in metallic black (just the roof not the body). I’m based Essex if anybody have any recommendation of sprayers?

Do it yourself mate - unless you're after a pro / concours job.

DA it back so you get a decent surface for the new paint to key to, if you have a compressor and spray gun get some black paint, mix with some thinners so it goes through the gun properly and do it yourself. Not hard to do, just need a decent day weather wise and make sure you mask everything up properly and take your time.

The problem is I remember GCSE art, which I got thrown out of!
I do have a compressor and spray gun (cheap one which was part of a set) but would a 25lt compressor be big enough for spraying as I thought I would need a 50lt one

25litre should run a spray gun, you may have to stop a bit more for the tank to recharge but it should work.

Anyway you will not get too hot, the defender has a two stage air conditioning system...... one window open and then two windows open!

The roofs are white for a reason. Much cooler in the summer.

I thought about this, but then thought that once it's done the rest of the vehicle will look sh*t so didn't bother in the end.

we dont have the luxury of long hot summers over here, we normaly have a nice bit of cold rain in between the periods of sun so my roof will be Black.;)

Did mine white to black amazing the difference to its look did it with 4aerosols of plasticote concentrated on the sides and front for a good finish top is black (who can see it)did it 3 years ago and still looks good
