Hi all,

Done a fairly comprehensive search on the tinterweb for help with wiring in some spot/fog lights for a freelander 1 with little success. Can anyone help me with a wiring diagram or point me in the right direction? Thanks for your help.

what type of fog lights are you thinking of fitting bumper mounted ,pods or nudge bar type
and are they landrover sourced

Fogs within 400mm of the edge of the vehicle and below the bumperline can be used without dip beam so should draw the power for the relay (not the lights themselves) from the sidelights not the dip. Some earth the relay through the main beam to ensure they go off when these are selected. Otherwise as in the suggested cct take it from the dip.

Spotlights I would take from the main beam relay feed rather than from the light feed itself.

I have also always used a non latching switch with a relay for fog lights so I don't need to remember to turn them off when I turn off the lights. That way I don't go around with foglights on in normal visibility.

Thanks peeps, I have purchased the brackets that fit onto the bumper bar and protrude through the plastic bumper so probably going to fit driving/spotlights therefore I will take the feed off the main beam. Had a go at taking the bumper off yesterday as a dry run, what a pain in the butt! Any reccomendations for lights?

Front bumper removal first time is usually a pain and often requires a hacksaw blade to chop out corroded OE fittings. Reassembly with stainless screws/ bolts and plenty of grease makes this a 5 minute job for the future.

Spotlamp/driving lamp wiring:

28/030 cable throughout.
Standard 4-pin relay with 20amp switching capability.

Pin 30: Permanent live from battery + through 10amp fuse.

Pin 87: Relay output + feed to Spot/driving lamps.

Pin 85: Earth.

Pin 86: Connected into headlamp main beam wiring.

This circuit switches the Spot/driving lamps on automatically with main beam selected.

Foglamp wiring:

As above apart from:

Pin 87: Relay output + feed to fog lamps.

Pin 85: To dash mounted switch and then to earth.

Pin 86: Connected into side light wiring.

This circuit will activate fog lamps only when both the side lights and the fog lamp switch are ON.

Dag..
