I would like to install roof mounted 'round' driving spot lights/lamps on my Discovery II year 2000. Please advise on the following:

a) Do I need any additional power source, e.g. addititional battery
b) How is the wiring done (neatly and hidden)
c) Is it possible to use one of the 'blank' switches to operate the lights

Any other useful information will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Roof mounted lights are illegal on the road so technically they should be covered when on road.

a. Not unless u leave them on without the engine running.
b. Up the inside of the 'A' pillar and drill a hole in the roof or outside behind the windscreen rubber.
c. Any switch will do to switch the relays that you will require.
Sorry I don't know what a 'blank' switch is.

if by blank switches you mean the spaces where switches for LR options like fog lights heated front windscreen etc are then you can use those spaces, push out the blanking plate and fit a switch off a scrap discovery or similar... you would need to route the wiring to it but it would be a very neat job, especially if you managed to get a switch with a suitable symbol on it
