My 2014 diesel Freelander 2 has started to almost "choke" at low speeds, ie setting off from idling at traffic lights, or pulling off from a roundabout. Only occasionally happens and I can't determine when or why, but as I put foot down to accelerate away gradually (not hard), there can be no response for about 6 seconds and then it suddenly clears and catches up. No problem code reports and gave it a fluid flush through the system - no effect. Feels like all the power is choked, something clears, and then it's fine. No black smoke and recent service found no problem and they couldn't recreate the issue.

Haven't yet got round to doing the suggestions yet as it suddenly stopped doing this. I've realised it sometimes does it several times a trip for about a week, and then stops completely for weeks. What sort of problem would manifest like that?

It might be gummed up and clears itself every now and again. If you can remove it and clean it you will have a better idea of that is the problem or not.
