Hello Yokels.
Annoyed from Manchester. Just put the drivers door lock in for replacement with the local garage. Turns out wasn't the lock mech assy but a fafthing little part from the lock barrel to the had snapped and no way to repair. On my parts breakdown it STC4737 with the value £175+. While I am not made of money and frankly down in funds due to having my lock mech replaced. I noticed a earlier version ALR9624 at roughly £70ish. But having a look around on Ebay nothing seems available except for the lock mech assy for the drivers door. Is it me or Landrover being a ripoff merchant considering these lock barrels look very weak and cost more than the lock mech assy itself. Can someone offer a solution or a pat on the back as I sulk in my empty beer glass.

Get yourself some metal epoxy and stick it back together

Where about did yours break because mine seem to have snapped off at the round middle part.

Mine snapped closer to one end, but metal epoxy will grip it almost anywhere...

Try building up gentle layers, letting it set and reinforce it most of the way back up to the eye at the top?
(Then remember not to wrench the key around when you have to use it!)

Sorry for the delay. How easy to dismantle the shaft from the key barrel? If you say one has to be careful when reusing this again then what actually caused yours to snap in the first place. Mine was already broke when I bought mine so I suspect my latch mechanism for the key was knackered or seized.

The fiddly bit is knocking the pin out that holds the shaft into the key barrel.
Take your time and drift it out with a small hammer and an allen key or other small drift.

I think they break because people try to turn them when the car is either deadlocked or the key barrel will turn further than the actual lock, allowing people to overstress the weak link.

Very much so.

At the end of the day, you can't really do much in the way of further damage - just make sure you line up the broken halves correctly when you glue them together, alignment is important.
