As I understand it the fl2 is front wheel drive until it detects a wheel slipping then the clutch in the haldex closes giving drive to the rear wheels. As the electric pump in the haldex is running all the time then the only delay is the hydraulic valve closing and multi plate clutch locking up which is quite quick (milli seconds) so sounds like the 4wd is doing its job.

In my experience of the FL2 system, engagement is instantaneous, so the front wheels won't spin.
Like I said, the only time mine spins is when I've pulled the Haldex fuse, after which is spins the front tyres very easily.

The haldex was serviced in May and had a new pump. I am really beginning to suspect the tyres as everything else seems fine
I have not long fitted a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde to my FL2 and it takes off like a scalded cat on my 6mm gravel drive with no problem

Thanks, but the point is mine is fine on beach gravel mud etc but in normal road use fulling away normally as it shift into 2nd gear the wheel spins momentarily.

OK - missed that - but just to clarify - I have no such problem on any surface using those tyres - just saying - I would study the advice on Haldex rather than worry about this particular brand of tyres

Hi Mandy, unfortunately not, as you can see there are some very interesting comments from what appear to be very knowledgeable people and so far I have been unable to resolve the problem, it's very frustrating along with being expensive on my tyre. In around a month I will switch to my winter tyres and last winter it did not spin once with them on.
