Hello guys,
I've a 1998 TDI Disco, my RH indicator flashes twice as fast as the LH. This started happening after a prang in the back and the bumper got damaged. Any advice as to how to fix it so they both flash at a similar speed.

Thanks
Alex

Check that all the indicator bulbs are working...normally if one if broken it causes the remaining ones on that side of the car to blink twice as fast. I think it something to do with capicitors (casting my mind back to GCSE science!)

If a bulb is gone - change it, and that should solve the problem!

So all the bulbs on the circuit are working yet it flashes fast, maybe its the flasher unit, or did you use those ultra low current LED bulbs? Sometimes they cause problems, infact on cars with bulb failure warnings these will alert you to a bulb out when in actual fact it is fine, as its drawing such a small current it thinks its no longer there...

Could be something along this line, not sure how easy it is to get to the flasher in the Disco having never done it before, but if its similar - once you find it - to the Defender then all you need to do is pull it out and throw in a replacment.

i think if it was yer falasher unit it would be the same on both sides.. deffo sounds like a bulb that is gubbed

Its nowt to do with capacitors, its resistance. If a circuit is designed to have 3 5w bulbs then the load is 15x, if one bulb goes then the circuit is only running on 10 w so the lights flash quicker.

LED bulbs only draw about 1/10th of the current so fitting a resistor in line will cure it.
